There are no set entry qualifications for most roles, although you may benefit from holding a qualification in a related topic (e.g. GCSE, BTEC, or other vocational qualification). It is possible to enter through a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Health & Social Care. Although there are no formal experience is required, related voluntary or informal experience (such as caring for relatives) will support your application.
However if you don’t hold these qualifications there is opportunity if you are interested to work towards them once you start your job.
*There are some specialist roles where you must be qualified and hold professional registration, and a degree before applying. These include social worker roles, registered nursing, and occupational therapist, other specialist co-coordinator roles such as dementia care co-ordinators. To find out more about these roles undertake the AHP (Allied Healthcare Professionals) and Nursing & Midwifery modules.
For the registered care managers role you will require a level 5 Diploma in Leadership Management for adult care. This qualification can only be completed when you’re working in a management role.
