Paramedics have a highly responsible role, often being the senior ambulance service healthcare professional in a range of emergency and non-emergency situations. As a paramedic you will be one of the first healthcare professionals to arrive at the scene. This role is faced paced with no day ever being the same. You will have to use your judgement and skills to quickly access a patient’s condition and make life-saving decisions.
You will work alongside others such as the police, fire and rescue services as well as supporting the relative’s and members if the public some of which maybe distressed. Paramedics work closely with hospitals, healthcare teams in the community, GP’s, mental health team and moany more healthcare providers.
A paramedic can work on a two-person team on an ambulance with another paramedic or a junior member of the team. You may work on your own using motorbike, car, and bicycle or on the telephone form a control room.
