Volunteering
Do you want to make a difference to young people in our communities? By becoming an NHS Ambassador for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, you can help inspire our young people to think about what is possible in their futures.
Being a Health Ambassador is also a great personal and professional development tool, allowing employees to gain confidence by speaking to young people about their job, and helping young people to understand the application and recruitment process – particularly for those children from disadvantaged backgrounds who have few successful role models, either at home or in their local communities.
Meet some of our Ambassadors speaking about their careers.
Become a Mentor
If you work in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough in any organisation and are working at Band 4 (or equivalent) and above, can invest some time, energy, and personal know-how to help pre-employment or early career, we need you! You can become a vital part in helping these individuals grow and improve as they embark on their health and care career journey.
Mentorship is the provision of personal support, assistance, encouragement, and inspiration, particularly at a time of transition and is usually sustained over a period of time.
Becoming a mentor and supporting another human being is immensely rewarding and can bring a great sense of personal achievement and satisfaction. Not only this, it can also provide an opportunity to extend your own people development experience and refine key leadership skills such as listening, questioning, facilitation, empathising and rapport building.
Register your interest
Your commitment can be as much, or as little, as you can give. This can range from just one hour a year sharing your career journey with young people in a school, to supporting larger events, or establishing a regular mentoring arrangement (around 6-months) with a pre-employment or early career individual. Whatever your contribution, it will be invaluable in helping a rising workforce and you will be given support and training to undertake these roles.
